2nd Quarter Bank It CommUNITY Vision: Summer Youth Programs: the Library Reading Program, Alva Recreation Complex, and Friends of Youth Expo. During the months of April, May and June, Bank It raised funds and awareness for this community’s summer youth programs. The programs selected as this quarter’s CommUNITY Vision are amazing programs that help to facilitate the needs of our youth. The Children’s Library Reading Program is free and public reading program for youth ranging in age from 4 years to 12. The program offers free presentations to engage the children in reading and allows them to become familiar with the library and gain an invaluable respect for reading. This program is a delight to have available in Alva. The funds generated will be used for next summer’s reading program and help pay for presentations and fun things to get kids excited about reading. The Alva Recreation Complex is the hub for all summer sports activities in Alva. This program offers t-ball, softball, coach pitch, baseball as well as arts and crafts during the summer months of June and July. Numerous families enjoy spending summer evenings watching their favorite team members play ball. The Alva Recreation Complex will utilize the funds donated to purchase new equipment for all ages as well as offer scholarships for youth athletes wanting to participate. The Friends of Youth Expo is a program to engage the area’s youth in nature and help children learn to respect and value the world around them. This program offers a one day event where children can experience an outdoor classroom, learn about animals, their habitats and conservation. This program has grown in recent years, as school teachers, adventurers, and
wildlife conversationalists donate their time to help educate our youth. This event is free to the public and excites and engages children and adults of all ages. Once again, Alva has shown support for our local organizations and pride in the work they do, by donating each month to Bank It.
