Alva EMS,
January to March
- The Alva EMS is in need of a new piece of equipment not budgeted into the City of Alva’s finances. It is called a LUCAS Machine. It will help aid the EMT’s in performing continuous CPR while in route to the hospital. This machine costs roughly $14,000 and will aid, not only Alva community members, but all of Woods County, as their service area is half-way to Waynoka, Freedom, Dacoma and Cherokee.

Graceful Arts, Children’s Art Programs,
April to June
- The Graceful Arts is in need of funds to provide education and supplies to their year round children’s programs. Graceful Arts provides service to all the elementary schools in Alva, as well as in Burlington, with hopes to include Freedom and Cherokee schools soon.

Community K-9, local K-9 police unit,
July to September
- The local K-9 unit is looking for funds to pay for the new K-9 Officer, Duke. He is a 2 year-old German Sheppard the police department just received. Duke will be used not only as an officer of the Alva Police Department, but as an educational tool to promote safety in local schools. The K-9’s service area is all of Woods County. The department is in need of funds to pay the balance on the price of the dog ($13,000) and help provide training opportunities for Duke and his partner, Officer Hawley. The department considers Duke the COMMUNITY’S dog, because he does so much to educate and promote law enforcement throughout Northwest Oklahoma and Southwest Kansas.

Neighbors in Need, local participating food bank,
October to December
- This CommUNITY Vision is an annual ’Bank It for the Food Bank’ program. Food and funds can be donated in support of the local participating food bank.
